Common use cases

Some of the most common ways to use this tool.

Fix scans made with a phone

When you scan a document with your phone's camera, it's easy for a page to come out turned 90°.

Straighten landscape pages

A blueprint, a wide table, or a chart scanned sideways inside an otherwise portrait PDF.

Prepare a PDF for printing

Fix the page orientation before sending it to a printer or copy shop.

Fix a document before sharing it

Send it by email or messaging already correctly oriented, so nobody has to turn their phone to read it.

Combine pages from different sources

After merging PDFs from different scanners, some pages can end up rotated relative to the rest.

Adjust signed or scanned documents

Fix the orientation of contracts, invoices, or forms scanned with inconsistent orientation.

Rotating a PDF, explained

Rotating a PDF with Unido means changing each page's display angle, not redrawing its content. Every PDF page carries an internal rotation property (0°, 90°, 180°, or 270°) that tells the PDF viewer at what angle to display it. This tool simply updates that value on every page in the document — the text, images, and vector graphics on each page remain exactly the same bytes as in the original; they're just displayed turned.

That's why rotating a PDF with Unido is practically instant, and the resulting file weighs almost the same as the original: there's no image to recompress and no text to re-render, just a small numeric value updated on each page.

This tool rotates every page of the document by the same angle — it doesn't (yet) include a picker to choose a different angle per page. If your PDF mixes pages in different orientations and you only want to fix some of them, the way to do it with Unido's tools is: split those pages out with Split PDF, rotate them with this tool, and merge everything back together with Merge PDF.

Like every other Unido tool, the whole process happens in your own browser: the engine that parses the PDF and changes its rotation was written specifically for Unido, with no external libraries, and your file is never uploaded to any server.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free to rotate a PDF with Unido?

Yes, Unido is completely free, with no usage limits and no need to create an account.

Does my file get uploaded to a server?

No. The entire rotation process happens inside your own browser. Your file never leaves your device or gets sent to any server.

Can I rotate only some pages and not all of them?

This tool rotates ALL pages of the document by the same angle — it doesn't include a picker to rotate individual pages differently. If you only need to turn some pages, split them out first with our Split PDF tool, rotate them separately, and merge everything back together with Merge PDF.

Does rotating lose any quality?

No. Rotating a PDF only changes the page's display angle (its internal rotation property) — it doesn't redraw or recompress the content. The text, images, and vector graphics stay exactly as they were in the original, just turned.

Why does the rotated file weigh almost the same as the original?

Because technically the page content isn't modified at all — only a small numeric rotation value on each page. It's an instant operation that never needs to reprocess images or text.

What's the maximum file size I can rotate?

You can rotate PDF files up to 100 MB.

Can I rotate a password-protected PDF?

No, this tool doesn't support encrypted or password-protected PDFs. Remove the protection from the file before rotating it.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes, Unido works in any modern browser, on both mobile and desktop, with nothing to install.
