Converting JPG to PDF, explained
Converting JPG to PDF means taking one or more images in JPG format and placing them, one per page, inside a single PDF document. It's useful for sending photos as a formal document, grouping several images into one file, or turning phone photos of documents into something easy to print or archive.
This tool checks the actual content of each file (not just its name or extension) to make sure it's a valid JPG/JPEG before converting it; if an image isn't, it tells you clearly instead of generating a corrupted PDF. The images are embedded as-is, without recompressing or re-encoding them, so they don't lose any additional quality in the process: the resulting PDF will weigh roughly the same as the sum of the original images.
Each page of the PDF matches the actual size and aspect ratio of its image — a portrait photo produces a portrait page, and a landscape one, a landscape page — assuming a resolution of 96 dots per inch unless the image itself specifies a different resolution in its JFIF header. Keep in mind that this tool doesn't apply EXIF rotation: if a phone photo only looks upright thanks to that metadata, it will appear rotated the same way in the final PDF.
Since everything happens in your own browser, your photos are never uploaded to a server. Speed depends only on your device, which is why the number of images and the combined size per conversion are limited, so the tool runs smoothly in any browser.
Frequently asked questions
Is it free to convert JPG to PDF with Unido?
Yes, Unido is completely free, with no usage limits and no need to create an account.
Do my images get uploaded to a server?
No. The entire process happens inside your own browser. Your images never leave your device or get sent to any server.
How many images can I convert, and what's the maximum size?
You can convert up to 20 JPG images with a combined size of up to 100 MB.
Do I lose quality when converting my photos to PDF?
No. The JPG images are embedded as-is in the PDF, without recompressing or re-encoding them, so there's no additional quality loss.
What order will the pages of the PDF be in?
Whatever order you place the images in the list before clicking "Convert to PDF". You can reorder them using the arrows next to each image.
Does it support image formats other than JPG?
No, this tool only accepts JPG/JPEG images. It checks the actual content of the file, not just its extension, so a file renamed to .jpg that's actually a different format will be rejected with a warning.
Does it respect the orientation of photos taken with a phone?
Each page matches the actual size and aspect ratio of the image (portrait or landscape), but this tool doesn't apply the rotation stored in EXIF metadata: if your photo appears rotated in your file browser because of that metadata, it will appear rotated the same way in the PDF.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes, Unido works in any modern browser, on both mobile and desktop, with nothing to install.
